The Central & South Texas Minority Business Council, a regional affiliated council of the NMSDC, hosted this prestigious group at the Marriott River center, Sponsored by TOYOTA, GENERAL MOTORS, DELL, H.E.B., JOHNSON CONTROLS, TXU, UPS, and the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council, every council chairperson, Minority Business Committee chairperson, and every executive director or president of every council across the country, meet to discuss critical issues facing minority business growth and the corporate challenges that accompany it. There are 39 councils in the NMSDC network. Sixty-five of the top CEOs of the largest corporations in San Antonio and Austin were invited to this private event. Corporations who are not involved in supplier diversity or need to understand how critical minority supplier development is to the sustenance of their companies was listed to a “state of the industry” presentation from Ms. Michele, considered to be the expert on supplier diversity in America. “It was interesting to note who came to this meeting,” stated Dinah Lovett, President of the CSTMBC,”resources and support were offered to our local corporations that know who their customers are and those corporations that value doing business with minority businesses.” The National Supplier Development Council is the certification program of choice for the corporate world – the Fortune 4,000 -- and is the industry standard for the largest corporations on the globe. Many corporations accept ONLY NMSDC certification; such as TOYOTA, CHASE BANK, LUCENT, FORD, DAIMLER CHRYSLER, and hundreds of others, including tier one and tier two suppliers to these corporations.
