A Salute To A Fallen Soldier Samuel
(Boogalue) Eastland

By ANTHONY ODUMS and
TERRY SLOAN

As the main stream media down play and celebrates when another Brother or Sister is arrested or Killed we at African American News & Issues salute and mourn for the fallin soldiers in the underworld (the ghetto). This is a special article dedicated to all of the fallin soldiers that has either been killed or locked up that was in the struggle chasing ‘’Ghetto Dreams’’. For those who listened to the late Phat Pat know about Ghetto Dreams and for those that don’t I’ll give you a brief description of what Ghetto Dreams are. But before I do I’m going to go ahead and answer you alls question , Why are we African American News & Issues is doing a special dedicated article to Black people that was killed or locked up?

For one reason is that we Africans made in America have been polluted and brained washed to where we are killing up our own race and putting our Black warriors in the system for life by staying trapped. That’s right trapped, trapped in Willie Lynch’s organized plan to keep us down in slavery without the chains and whips for at least 300 years. Willie Lynch came up with this plan in 1712 for the southern slave master around in those days. If you don’t believe just do your research to find out for yourself who Willie Lynch is. But what is the real reason why we decided to do this article?, Well its simple ,we have seen to many of our people becoming victims by either death or incarceration and just brushed off or down graded by the main stream media.
When a murder occurs and it’s a Black person the process of investigating the murder scene is quick and the response to the scene from the laws is slow . It’s sounds backwards but it’s the truth. A perfect example is the night that a young soldier had lost his life at Pawn’s Wheel and Tire Shop. Which was a big shock, cause the foe foe is pretty quite now days and there hasn’t been a real murder like that in a while . This was not a nobody that got killed, but this was a young brother who had come up in the game while trying to attain his Ghetto Dream. Samuel Nathaniel Eastland also known to the hood cats as ‘’Boogalue’’ is the young brother who now lives in Thugs Mansion. Many songs like the ‘’World is a Ghetto’’ by Scarface or‘’Gangstas Make The World Go Round’ by Westside Connection are rap songs that give details or tell stories about what goes on in the everyday life as a gangsta or living in the ghetto. But who really know about what goes on in the streets or what goes on in a young mans mind on the grind. As we know it was talked about on the News and in the Houston Chronicle, but what did they say or how did they say what they said. What ever they said it don’t matter because its nothing compared to what the African American News & Issues have to say about the murder .

It was a sad heartfelt tragedy for the community . It was something that happens everywhere around the world, but who really talks about what goes on in the streets besides the bad stuff WE DO ! Who really recognize a young private in the streets turned into a general over the years of hustling WE DO! Yah that’s right AAN&I is here to voice about what goes on in our neighborhoods no matter what the case may be. You see the streets are real and getting rank in the streets is even realer. Very few live to reach general status like Boogalue did. If they did live to reach the ranking of a general they are either locked up or so low key you wouldn’t know if they were a general or not. Well that was Bugaloo case he was a low-key hustling general who had got caught up chasing his Ghetto Dreams before he was able to make a change. You see in this world there are several of sayings about reaching success. The most known one is trying to get a piece of the American pie, but for us in the hood our saying is Ghetto Dreams.
Ghetto Dreams is whatever that makes you tick. If your from the hood Ghetto Dreams would fall like this #1 money #2 respect #3 a slab (nice car) #4 a plushed out crib ( a nice house) and everything else that fallows. Now I’m not saying that’s all we dream about, but those would be our top priorities. While trying to make there dreams a reality people will go through hell and put there family’s through hell. Is it crazy or is it wrong ? I can’t call it, because we are not the judges of the world even though we think we are but were really not. People live differently, think differently, move, talk, walk differently and most of all is exposed to different things. Let me brake it down if you are raised around hustlers your gonna automatically have the traits of a hustler and if you were raised around a politician your gonna know about or have the knowledge of a politician. Do you feel me? It’s the environment that you are exposed to that gives you the options of which way to go or be like. Now everybody from the ghetto is not a hustler, drug dealer, dope head or whatever they label us from the ghetto. There are some smart beautiful Brothers and Sistahs that come from the hood or that’s still in the hood. But we really don’t know why we have those types of environments , but if you look back and study the past we will know why half of the things are happening to us now. Just think about I mentioned Willie Lynch and one major thing in his plan that he stressed was age, the young against the old and the old against the young . That’s one of the reasons today that the young or elders don’t listen to one another, and a lot of us didn’t know that a white man had made a plan 282 years ago about this for our slave ancestors which was carried on to us. This the type of stuff that make you say humm!

But Just like Mr. Malonson tells me all the time if you mix youth with old age its powerful and unstoppable. Which is true cause we would be a whole all the way around from the young to the old. I didn’t right this article to start preaching but its real spit (talk) that I’m throwing at you. Now this brother Samuel was in the game for his dreams and his family with his own motivation to get it. So why? I don’t know , but I do know that the hood lost another soldier, but this isn’t the first or the last soldier that we will loose in the struggle. Just last year within 6 months I lost two patnas that was in the struggle. Its real in the battlefield and I understand, cause not always I was working for Malonson Company Inc. and being trained in the business field like I am now. I too had my times in the streets, yah T. Sloan tried those shoes on, but they didn’t fit so I couldn’t sport them. As a matter of fact those shoes got me caught up in the system for a short period of time. Am I embarrassed? No, because I learned from my mistakes and I know what path that I really want to be on in life. I kept my head and didn’t let the hood mentality take me under. So I feel the hustlers ,the gangsters, and the ghetto children of this world we call home. We all have one thing in common not the ghetto, but that we are Black Strong Africans in this land of opportunity, which our great ancestors built with their bare hands. So we have the choice of what path we want to take in this one life to live. To my people in the struggle like Pac say’’ Keep Yah Head Up’’ and I’m out.

Just as my Patna T. Sloan took a moment from Sports with a Black Perspective to touch on this real talk about what’s really real in the hood. I want to interrupt Sports with the Black Perspective, this time coming from T. Sloan to A. Odums to the family of Boogalue whom I once knew as a friend. The only thing at a crime scene that authorities say about a Black man is yeah, we finally got one of them, meaning that they suspect every Black kid to steal, kill, rob or sell drugs. Boogalue wasn’t what the media proceeded of him. He came from a good family and raised to respect everyone that respected him. He started his education at Bruce Elementary in the Fifth Ward area. Upon relocation he attended M.C. Williams Middle School in Acres Homes, then later finished his High School at Booker T. Washington. Yes, he got a little education. Yes, he grew up around all Black folks. Yes, he hung out in Lincoln City, Garden City, Lincoln Park Apartments which we call the Ghettos, Town Park and Gessner, Rustic Village Apartment on that Southwest side, St. Lo and Bellfort in South Park, Yellow Stone & Scott, the Sunny Side, Anita & Nettleton Park 3rd ward the hard part in lucky 7 The Yard, Gregg & Lyons 5th ward, oh, excuse me Jesse but, I have tell our girl Jana that everything's going to be alright. See this is some inside stuff you didn’t know about. Just because you come from a good home and have a education doesn’t mean that life will be peaches and cream because the wash isn’t always soap and suds. Listen, we Black people, are naturally gifted mentally and physically. Your average Black kids is multi talented. Our kids are stereotyped everyday. In public schools a Black kid can be a straight (A) student with excellent conduct strikes. He or she can incidentally pick up a book that belongs to someone else and get jumped by the person that finds out. The child gets expelled for three days and charged with theft. The kid is only ten years old, but because he or she is Black then they’re now labeled as a thief and a Problem child. We’re looking out Gordon Smith, Carl & Chris Boston, Dennis Bundick my boy Big Pig.
