African-American News&Issues, established in 1996 and targeting
African-American, readers is one of the fastest growing and largest
African-American owned newspapers in the United States.
• Circulation
African-American News&Issues is the widest weekly circulated Black
newspaper in Texas with a controlled circulation distributed every
Wednesday.
The paper is delivered to more than 100,000 homes and is available at
more than 5,000 locations, including chambers of commerce, churches,
organizations, barber & beauty shops, schools, funeral homes,
restaurants, public schools and libraries, college/university campuses,
select businesses-retailers-grocery stores, transit centers and various
downtown locations.

Ad orders and submissions must be received by close of business on
Wednesdays, a week prior to publication.

Myrtis Dightman 15th Annual
Rodeo & Trail ride August 30, 2003
Time has come for us to
saddle-up for the 15th Anniversary year. This is a family event for all to
come and enjoy. This rodeo is in honor of Myrtis Dightman, the first Black
National, 7 time N.F.R. Cowboy and another first - the only living Black
Cowboy to be inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame. In April of
2003, Myrtis Dightman was inducted into the National Cowboys of Color Museum
and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas . On Friday, Aug. the 29th Dightman
hosts a youth-fair at his farm where very young children are introduced to
horses, cowboys, and clowns. A cowboy and trail rider campout will be held
the night of the 29th at the Dightman farm. All horsemen are welcome to come
to the campout and participate in the trail ride. We will be up early the
next day for a trail ride from there, through 5th Ward, on to Camp Street,
and head for Downtown and to be on the square at about 3 PM. Then on the the
Porth Ag Arena to set up for the 15th Annual Rodeo. Ya’ll come on out and
