Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Homeland Security and Judiciary and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, issued the following statement about the stabbing attack on the campus of the University of Texas, Austin:
“The stabbing attack at the University of Texas at Austin on Monday shattered the peace at one of our nation’s most esteemed institutions of higher learning. According to authorities, one person was killed and three other victims were seriously hurt. A suspect has been taken into custody and police are investigating.
“I offer my prayers to the family of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured. And I also pray for the well-being of law enforcement now tasked to determine the motive behind this this heinous attack.”
