This week in Washington, DC, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Dr. Austin A. Lane, President of Texas Southern University, met with Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr. to discuss issues important to Texas Southern University and the surrounding community.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was instrumental in leading the initiative to get Financial Aid Relief for the students and campus of Texas Southern University in the amount of $13 plus million dollars. She also continues to keep the university community informed about major issues impacting citizens of the city of Houston, state of Texas, about issues like Health Care, Economic Development, Education, Social Security among other things.
