Sodom and Gomorrah aren’t envied
OR:We’re ego-tripping to believe jealousy evokes hatred

Woebeit these are the best of times, in many ways in the land of the free, these also are the worse of times. No, I’m not talking Victor Hugo’s “Tale of Two Cities.”
I’m, talking lying and cheating and evil in high places that has turned America the beautiful into the same kind of sin-sick nation that doomed the denizens of the Biblical kingdoms Sodom and Gomorrah.

For sure, I shudder at the thought of evil people going to and fro like a roaring lion looking for whom they can devour, but I ain’t about to call the Almighty a liar. And I ain’t about to think he was selling “wolf tickets,” when he said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.”

But that’s exactly what far too many made in America Africans are doing when they buy into this fragmented land of the free’s preposterous premise that at least two thirds of the known civilized universe considers us an “evil empire,” primarily because they’re jealous of our magnificent lifestyle.
God is not mocked notwithstanding, I’ve heard many foolish made in America Africans declare, “They (foreign nations) hate us because we live so well. Everybody wants to come to America because we’re the greatest nation in the world.” I can’t count the times I’ve heard my confused brothers and sisters regurgitate that nebulous anthem.

Then again, I shouldn’t be so hard on my brainwashed brothers and sisters because they simply fail to grasp the concept of holiness. If we really and truly believe in Christian tenets (as most of us profess), it’s impossible to rationalize America’s greatness to God Almighty. I would dare say, as true Christians, we’re more likely to compare 21st century America’s sad state of existence to the Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.

Ergo, I simply can’t imagine why the poorest Moslem, Buddhist, Taoist, or Hindu would envy Americans’ lifestyle per se. Obviously, if you want to talk material things, America probably is without peer. Then again, if one is measuring greatness from a didactic perspective, we are at the bottom of a bottomless pit, insofar as we seem to be fighting a losing battle to evil in high places.
Lest America remember the history of “The Rise and Decline of Great Empires,” we’re doomed to make the same mistakes that they did. In any civilized culture, family is valued above all else. Every since Adam covered Eve’s butt with a fig leaf, it has been an anthropological fact that most men treasure the love and respect of their wives and children above all else, therefore I’ve always had empathy for the Islamic custom of keeping their women covered from head to toe.
Come on pray with me brothers and sisters, you know I’m right. Carnal minded brothers can talk that noise, but if you say you wouldn’t like your women folk to show a lot less flesh, when they dress, you’re lying. Hell, if you could design your wife and daughter(s)’ wardrobes they probably would look like nuns before they were able to reveal more than their faces.

I’ve never forgotten a conversation I had with Bob, an oriental merchant who owned a grocery store in the ‘hood many years ago. To my surprise, he was lamenting the fact that his community was dealing with the same problem the Black community was dealing with, insofar they were losing control of their children. But worse than that, their women were being Americanized and were becoming much more outspoken.

That was back in the 60s when I had just invented the infamous Forward Times’ “Black Pages.” Would you believe that not a single oriental juvenile had ever been arrested at that time? I remember distinctly doing research for an article that revealed that not a single oriental or Hispanic man had killed his woman, or vice versa.

On the other hand, more Black women had killed their husbands or mates in 1964 than at any other time in Houston’s history. Affirmative action aside, I started conducting an annual research that revealed that the more independent, or Americanized, Oriental and Hispanic women became, the more domestic violence resulted.

Constable Victor Trevino probably is still mad at me for inferring that Mexican-Americans didn’t start killing their wives until they started dying their hair blond when he was a weekly guest on KCOH radio. Remember “El Torro?” Where am I going with this? What I’m saying is, there is a preponderance of evidence that there is something in America’s culture that turns good people into bad people.
Do you agree that its people ideally determine a nation’s greatness? Thus, if we’re denizens of the greatest nation in the world, we should be the greatest people on the planet? Ugly Americans aside, I just recently read an article that revealed that rage and rudeness abounds.
In essence, just plan old mean-spirited arrogance, makes the overused cliché, “Have a good day,” a challenge rather than a sincere salutation. For sure America is a land of great opportunity but unfortunately that works against most of our citizens, rather than for them. Sure, we throw away more food in a week than many people in impoverished nations can hope to even see in a year.
Nonetheless, I don’t think being wasteful has anything to do with greatness. Unless you’re in the garbage collecting business. But we’re still talking “things” here.

Let’s talk morals, inasmuch as outraged Americans’ most consistent indictment against Osama bin Laden and the Taliban after 9/11 put a spotlight on the Middle East, was how they treat their women. Perish the thought I’m anti-American, but more American men kill or maim their wives and/or significant others than any other “enlightened” nation in the world. Need I even mention that more of our children are in jail than some Third World nation’s entire populations?
When I think about it, we’re ego-tripping to think that nations, filled with virtuous women are jealous of a nation wherein porn queens are somebody’s granny and our beautiful daughters can make millions shaking their booty.

I wonder if anybody knows where I’m coming from?
