WASHINGTON With U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison
witnessing the signing ceremony at her Capitol office, Dallas-based Managed Information
Systems Inc. (MIS) signed a contract to provide systems consulting services to the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The federal government is very focused on working smarter, and to do so, they must
be able to tie their different computer databases together to enhance communication
between agencies, Sen. Hutchison said. MISs work will help do that,
which will be especially critical as FEMA begins to build a close relationship with the
Department of Homeland Security.
MIS is proud to be a part of the team bringing systems solution technology into the
federal sector, said Benjamin F. Myers, director of strategic markets for MIS.
This specific contract is to minimize data duplication and improve the accuracy and
integrity of the data FEMA use in online transactions.
Representing MIS were Harlee Glover, President/CEO; Ken Williams, Vice President, Federal
Operations; and Benjamin F. Myers, Director of Strategic Markets. Also present was Gregory
H. Lorden, Vice President, Government Business Unit for Business Objects Americas. From
FEMA were Lee Tincher, Lead for the Enterprise Data Management Team; Joseph D. Szwarckop,
Deputy Chief Information Officer, Strategic Programs; and Cedric N. Sheridan,
Congressional Liaison, Terrorism Preparedness/Consequence Management.
