2002 Texas Women Pioneer Awards Banquet honors five outstanding ministers

HOUSTON--Woman Rise Up Ministries will honor five outstanding women at the 2002 Texas Women Pioneer Awards Banquet, which will be held at the Willowisp Country Club in Missouri City, Texas on Friday, October 25, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. The honorees will be recognized for their service in the community and for opening up new paths and breaking new grounds for women ministers. The honorees will be Pastor/Apostle Blanche Barley of Jesus Faith Church; Pastor/Apostle Dorothy Washington of Good News Church; Minister Dorothy Leonard of Morning Star Full Gospel Baptist Church; Minister Mary Anne Copelin of SHIPHCHAIT Ministries and Co- pastor Tena Ford of Family Worship Center.

Since the beginning of time, every generation has had its share of women pioneers. These are the women that go against the rules of society and become trailblazers and forerunners for those that follow them. Such women as Kathryn Kuhlman, Maria Woodworth-Etter, and Aimee McPherson have been honored in the past as women who have paved the way for women ministers. The founder of Woman Rise Up Ministries, Ida B. Ullrich, believes it would be a great injustice to allow these women to go unnoticed, so the banquet is in order to say thank you for their labor of love.
The banquet will consist of a sit down dinner, entertainment and program. Tickets can be purchased at $35.00 per person.

In November of 1995, during personal adversity, Ullrich heard the voice of God instructing her to step out in faith and start Woman Rise Up Ministries. Having a burning desire to bring hope to hurting women she began hold meetings at a local church. These meetings were designed to help women overcome past hurts that caused them to have low self-esteem. She wanted to help rebuild their self-esteem by teaching them the Bible and showing them scriptures that stated how God had made them in His image and how God wanted to give them a hope and a future. During these meetings many women who had been abused physically and emotionally began to believe and trust in God as Ullrich taught scriptures from the Bible, prayed, and cried with them. As a result, these women developed a love and respect for themselves, ultimately, changing their lives forever.

In l996 Woman Rise Up Ministries expanded its ministry to include Prophetic Conferences around the Texas and Louisiana areas. Then in 1997 the ministry started an Apartment Outreach program. This outreach program, which used prayer breakfasts~as a forum to teach the Bible, was held at the Aristocrat and South Post Oak Village Apartments. The focus of the meetings was to expose young girls and women to the Christian faith and to motivate them to fulfill their purpose in life. The women who attended these meetings also received gifts for themselves and their children.

In 1998, the ministry went back to its roots when it began to hold women’s meetings in Rosenberg, Texas and in 1999 it added a new branch to its organization, The Elijah to Elisha Apostolic Prophetic Training School. The school offers in-depth teaching on the prophetic. The goal of the school is to restore and convey the importance of integrity and character for those who claim to speak for God. Another goal of the school is to build, mature and edify its students through the teaching of the Bible.

The Prophetic Training School is growing rapidly and the 2002 class will graduate in December. Ullrich continues to reach out to hurting women and has now expanded the ministry to include men as well. She is also looking forward to extending the prophetic conferences and the school beyond Texas and Louisiana. Call 713/383-0131 for more information.
