celebrates pastor and wifes 44th appreciation
The members of
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 9833 Bonazzi Dr., celebrated their Pastor and
Wifes Appreciation Day on September 15 with two services. The first service held
that morning to honor Rev. W.J. and Lois Profit was presided over by Rev. Anthony Perry.
The theme for the event was entitled Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving, His Courts
with Praises. The theme for the day was Our Pastor, Gods Undershepherd,
and a Faithful Servant. After scripture led by Rev. Alex Jackson (John 10:9-16.) the
Youth/Children Choir and the Music Department presented the church with a song of praise.
The welcome was presented by Sister Tiffany Lewis; the theme speaker was Bro. Timothy
Williams and Bro. Mitchell Johnson presented, What My Pastor Means to Me According
to Scripture. A Tribute to Our Pastors Wife, was given by Sister
Lauren Harper. The sermon was presented by Rev. Alex Jackson.
The afternoon service continued with Sister Mary Sinclair singing a solo the pinning of
corsages by Rev. and Sis. T.E. Harper, Sis. Jackie Jackson, theme speaker; A Tribute
to Our Pastors Wife, by Sis. Valerie Harper and What My Pastor Means to
Me According to Scripture, Deacon Samuel Jones. Rev. Charles Carter of Strait Life
Missionary Baptist Church presented the anniversary sermon.
Rev. and Mrs. Profit were acknowledged with presentations. The guest churches and pastors
who attended this event were Rev. John Bowie, pastor of True Light Missionary Baptist
Church, Rev. L.F. Chaney, pastor of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. J.H. Fortune,
pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and Rev. C.C. Lewis, pastor of Greater Zion
Missionary Baptist Church.
The sons in the ministry are Rev. Rickey Davis, pastor of New Baptist Bible Fellowship
Church in Texarkana, TX, Rev. C.L. Hester Pastor of First Community Missionary Baptist
Church, Leggett, TX, Rev. Michael Blaylock Mt. Of Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church
with Rev. A. Patterson, Pastor, Rev. Alex Jackson of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist
Church and others. Dinner was served afterwards.
A thank you note printed in the anniversary program adequately captured the members
feelings. It read: Thank you Bro. Pastor for being a true servant of our Lord, Jesus
Christ, and a gospel preacher, rightly dividing the word of truth. Thanks for
being our Pastor, Shepherd, and Counselor; reproving and rebuking but ever in a spirit of
love. Your crowning virtue and your faithfulness is a testimony. Your life is an example
to us. Praise God for your work in love, wisdom, humility, courage, joy and self-denial.
Only God could enable you to serve as you serve. |
