Dallas County Community College District hires new director

DALLAS -- The Dallas County Community College District Foundation recently hired Terence McDaniel as its news director of finance and business affairs.  A native of Tyler, Texas, Terence comes by way of Arizona, where he served for nine years (1992-2001) as vice president of finance and administration for the Greater Phoenix Urban League. Prior to that, he had his own CPA practice in Dallas for over seven years. He has also worked in various accounting and audit positions for different companies in the Dallas area.  “Terence brings a depth of experience that I am looking forward to adding to our group,” DCCCD Foundation Director Betheny Reid said. “He’s going to challenge us to further expand our ability to serve the Dallas Community Colleges.”

Terence previously served on the advisory board for the accounting department at Cedar Valley College, a part of the DCCCD, and was vice president of the National Urban League’s Chief Financial Officers Council. He was also treasurer of the Arizona Fair Housing Council.  Terence earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) in 1979 and earned his CPA license in 1986.
The DCCCD Foundation supports the DCCCD by providing scholarships, grants, resources and staff development opportunities to its seven colleges and two auxiliary centers. The foundation’s sole purpose is to benefit the students, faculty and staff of the DCCCD through private dollars.
Since its inception in 1973, the foundation has built its assets from an initial gift of $12,000 to more than $6 million while issuing more than $15 million in scholarships and grants.

DCCCD’s seven colleges include Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake and Richland. The Bill J. Priest Institute Center for Economic Development and the R. Jan LeCroy Center for Educational Telecommunications are the district’s auxiliary centers.
