Community

The family of Ezra and Franklin Turner celebrated their first annual reunion on July 12-14, 2002 with a formal dinner held at Savannah Rose Banquet Facility on July 12th with live performance from Jamakis, a Christian Rapp Artist; Patti Denise, Christian Entertainer, Rona Barrett and Bigga Boss, Secular Entertainment; while certain family members performed in christian dance, poetry and reading.

On Saturday, July 13th, we gathered for a picnic in Humble, at the Jessie H. Jones Park, concluding on Sunday, with services held at Savannah Rose. The Word of God was given by both, Norris Turner, Jr., of Northwest Community Church and Jacque Criswell of Lakewood Church. A song was sung by Morris Turner, Sr., with other praise songs brought by various worship CDs. To top the day off, brunch was served by the staff of Savannah Rose Banquet Facility, owned by Brenda J. Nelson Powell, of Humble, Texas.

The family of Ezra and Frankie Turner Sr. moved to Acres Home in 1939 and they resided at 1902 Dollywright Street, presently, the estate belongs to the wife of the late Rev. S.B. Parker, of Greater Zion Missionary Church.

Those who attended the reunion from out-of-state included: Barbara J. Turner Waters and her family; Dorris Turner Nelson and her family, Morris Turner, Sr., and his family, Norris Turner, Sr., and his family, Jerry L. Turner and his family, along with Andrae, the son of Sandra Turner and his family, along with Bethel Parker, Joel D. Parker, Artie Faye Pipkins, James Ray Parker and a host of other family members and friends. God was truly the center of this occasion, and He alone was highly exalted, especially in Sunday’s Worship Service.
