Singles Workshop presented at Third Ward Church of Christ

The Third Ward Church of Christ, 2721 McIhenny, where Bro. Royce Lemon, is minister, hosted a three-day Single’s workshop, where singles, single parents, divorced, widow and widower, could come together and heard God’s word concerning their plight in life. The workshops master of ceremony was Kelvin Weathers of the Third Ward congregation and the facilitator was Evangelist Joseph Walsh Jr. of the Laural Street Church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas.
A multitude of singles from congregations all over the city of Houston came together for the great event.

The theme of the workshop was “Will your Anchor Hold?” The singles were broken down into small groups for discussions and reports. Then they all came together in a large group for presentations. The topics of discussion were “loneliness,” “living celibate,” “alienation,” and “advantages.”  One group had to define courtship, low self-esteem and surviving as a single parent. Another group discussed recovery from a lost spouse, children, job, divorce, and etc.

All had fun, and the camaraderie was great. Men, women, brothers and sisters in Christ of all ages were laughing and talking to each other. Only time will tell the good work of this workshop. On Sunday morning, Walsh brought everything home with a sermon on “Marriage, Divorce and Remarriage.”

Other brothers from the Third Ward congregation, who made the workshop a success was Bro. Dylan Sykes (song director), Bro. Kori Weathers (prayer), and Bro. Michael Love (benediction). Call 713/659-6057 for more information.
