Local chapter of Minority Home schoolers of Houston sponsors first conference

Minority Homeschoolers of Houston will be sponsoring the first Minority Home Educators Conference on Saturday, August 3, 2002, from 9a.m. to 1p.m. at Lindale Assembly of God at 610 and I-45 North. The Theme will be “Homeschool Basics.”

People who may be thinking of homeschooling and missed the big conferences earlier this summer will receive a great foundation to begin homeschooling this year.
Speakers include Feyi and Johnston Obamehinti, founder of Minority Homeschoolers of Texas (www.mhot.org). Also speaking on topics for beginning homeschoolers will be Hank Tate, Brenda McGlory, Brenda White and Jube Dankworth.

The Obamehintis will be speaking on “Preserving the Family Legacy” and “Becoming a Part of the HomeSchool Family.” Tate is giving his “123s of Homeschool” session. BrWhite is speaking on “Fine Art Enrichment Program for Homeschoolers” and McGlory is speaking on “Teaching your Children to Pray.” Dankworth will be talking about “How to High School” and “Free and Frugal Resources.”

There will be an one-hour session for questions and answers for new homeschoolers at the end of the conference. The Homeschool Store will have their tables of books for those wishing to preview or buy curriculum at this conference. Informative Home School publications will also be available.
