Annual Texas Transportation Summit - 2002 held in Irving, Texas
IRVING - The
Texas 2002 Transportation Summit offers the largest and most comprehensive transportation
program in the state. Approximately a hundred speakers from across the nation will convene
in Irving for three days, August 14 16, 2002 at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las
Colinas in Irving, Texas. To discuss every mode and issue related to transportation
infrastructure.
People who are contractors, civil engineers, consultants, transportation providers, real
estate and land developers, city, county, state and federal officials, real estate and
land developers, corporate executives and business owners, commerce and transportation
officials, and chambers of commerce leaders are urged to attend this summit.
The invited speakers who will attend the summit are U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson,
U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger, U.S. Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, U.S. Congressman
Thomas E. Petri, U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman
Y. Mineta, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Texas State Senator Florence Shapiro, Raul Urteaga,
the Economic Counselor, Embassy of Mexico, and Ronald E. G. Davies, the Curator of Air
Transport, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institute.
The various topics that will be discussed during the summit are homeland defense and
security, TEA-21 reauthorization, aviation, construction, seaports, and trade corridors
and border issues. The pre-summit golf tournament will be held at the Four Seasons Resort
and Club, home of the Verizon Byron Nelson Classic. Participation is limited to the first
100 registrants. The tournament is a four-person Florida scramble with a shotgun start at
1 p.m.
A reception will be held from 5:30p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Summit
registration is a prerequisite so early registration for the summit and the tournament is
