LostInSpace—The June 28, 2002 celebration of Walter Clyde Johnson’s life at O.W. Wiley Funeral Home, 1290 Pinemont, renews African-American News&Issues’ Lost In Space pledge to those who wish for their love one’s passing to be duly noted. Johnson was born into a loving family on Jan. 8, 1935 in Plain Dealing, La. He was the third of Robert and Dora Johnson’s four children. Pastor M. Johnson, Pastor of Mt. Calvary BC eulogized him as a good husband, father, friend and Christian, who was honored in song and prayer by Butrina Tolbert and Doris Ricks. Darren Johnson, George Stern, Darwin Barnes, Rodney Mitchell, Kenny Hampton, Phillip Ross and Steven Casteloe were active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were: Oscar McKinney, Sherman Pinchback, C. Autry Tillis and Earl Crump. He leaves to mourn, his wife Vera McKinney Johnson; two sons, Walter Jr. and Darren; one daughter, Gwendolyn Collins (Clarence); a brother, Sam Johnson; Mother-& Father-in-Law, Lona and Oscar Pinchback; daughter-in-law, Margaret Oliver-Johnson; granddaughters, Tangee Johnson, Samidha Golston; grandson, Terrance Collins and three other grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Tarajanique Ross; Alma Wyatt’s family and a host of other friends and relatives. Well-done Walter Clyde Johnson.

M’StonesInDaHood—Happy belated birthdays to Patricia Elmore, a long time HISD educator and songbird Vicky Easy, who not only share the same July 14 birthday, but church. …A happy belated birthday (July 3) also goes out to Jerome Washington, who is recovering from a badly injured knee. Jerome shares a birthday with George Bud Johnson, Jr (aka Chip), who definitely got an Afrocentric card that is so popular at Shirley Ann Gift Shop & Black Arts Kollectibles, 6130 Wheatley. Incidentally, with a growing list of patrons like Mary Douglas, Kwan Douglas, Liana Leggins, Evelyn Shelton and Mr. & Mrs. Henry Perry Sr., the gift shop has been forced to expand. GoodNeighbors— It was evident that Rev. Steve Morrison was a Good Neighbor when his life was
celebrated on June 28, 2002 at Greater Ward Chapel AME, with Rev. Bobby Sonier officiating. The life of Rev. Morrison, who was born July 18, 1913 to Ruben and Rutha Morrison in Wharton, Texas, was celebrated by Rev. George Willis III, Sisters: Jean Morrison, Sandra Banks, Kim Banks and Rev. Claude Lewis, Jr. Pallbearers were: Eddie Kelly, John Parker, Michael Shopin, Dennis Smith, Ernest Walker and Charles Wilson. Ricky Cooper, Dorrall Ellis, Arthur Johnson Sr., Brentrice Johnson, George Morrison and Rev. James Morrison were honorary pallbearers.

Rev. Morrison leaves to mourn his passing: a son, George (Mary) Morrison; two daughters, Barbara Sampson and Deloris Davis; 10 grandchildren: Darrall, Denese, Larry, Valencia, Kevin, Quentin, Jean, Steven and Ricky; 8 grandchildren: Keisha, Darrall Jr., Camille, Justin, Arthur Jr., Erika, Kevin Jr., Quentin Jr. and devoted friend Rev. Bobby Sonier. Well-done Good Neighbor…. Ella Goudeau, an HPD 911 operator was definitely a Good Neighbor for a mother giving birth recently. When the baby stop breathing, Goudeau quickly instructed the HPD officer on the scene how to resuscitate the baby. For her actions Goudeau received the Chief of Police Commendation Award for her actions. Thanks Good Neighbor.
