Faith, Flavor and Fashion
The New Look of Hip Hop

Hip Hop music gets a make over from the inside out. Inspirational rap artist, La Toya Burns, also known as “Tragedy” in the rap community, challenges her listeners to uncover the jewel buried within their hearts, mind and soul. Her debut release on SGR Music Group, “Diamond in the Rough” is impacting the lives of young ladies across the country through motivational messages of faith. She adds flavor to her music with groove soaked bass lines and a raw relentless flow.
At a glance, the petite rapper appears soft-spoken and humble, but after listening to her CD, its spellbinding to hear that such a fearless flow could be contained inside such a fragile frame. Her passion and commitment towards her calling is evident after listening to the music. She is dedicated to the Hip-Hop art form and her passion is heard and felt throughout her CD.
Her outward appearance would not be considered anything less than trend setting and hip. Tragedy on the other hand, insists that inner beauty comes from a relationship with the Savior. This is what truly makes a woman virtuous. She also adds that outer beauty is deceptive and fades away over time, however inner beauty remains.

“Tragedy is the hidden treasure of Hip Hop,” says Dereik Smith, president of SGR Music Group. He continues, “Before today her music was hard to find. Now it’s sold in many music stores and once you get your hands on it, it’s priceless.”
