Christian Women of Distinction holds induction ceremony

Christian Women of Distinction, held an induction ceremony on June 2. members of the organization took an oath of commitment. Pastor Shirley Owens presided over the ceremony and Lavern Campbell was the mistress of ceremony; Curt Harrell spoke words of encouragement and gospel singer, song writer, president and founder Nina Harrell blessed the audience with a solo. Margaret Robins serves as vice president and co-founder.

Christian Women of Distinction, (C.W.O.D.), currently consists of 11 strong Christian women and is a Christian Charity, Outreach Ministry and Prayer Circle organization.Harrell stated, “We are finding ways to give back to the community, by way of community service activities, and helping families with small children - primarily those families who are at or below poverty level.”

Their recent community service and donations were give to the Star of Hope Women and Children’s Shelter. Future plans include visiting nursing homes and the Fort Bend Women and Children Shelter as well. This past month, they were able to help their first family. A mother who died of AIDS, did not have burial insurance. She also left behind two children ages 9 and 10. Since the mother grew up in an orphanage, the children were in need of immediate help.
