nothing Lil’ about Ms. Red.

FORT WORTH - In an era where young MC’s are rapidly becoming hip hop’s latest superstars, 13-year-old Sandy Red is destined to become the first female rapper to achieve a platinum success before the age of 17. With that goal in mind, there hasn’t been much time for her to wait for her producers and songwriters to come up with new material. She has been busy writing her own lyrics while in the studio recording non-stop.

This 13-year-old girl writes her own lyrics while holding her own on the mike. Sandy Red is already being compared on the teen scene with the likes of Lil “Bow Wow and Lil” Romeo, but once people hear her lyrical talents they are usually convinced that there’s nothing Lil’ about Ms. Red. In an industry that’s been monopolized by explicit lyrics and violent content Sandy Red, like Will Smith, has maintained a conviction that you can reflect a positive image and still be heard while excluding the foul and violent language.

As she is blazing up the stage with her electrifying performances, her popularity is on the rise both locally and nationally. She was recently nominated in two categories at the Dallas/Fort Worth 2002 Music Awards, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “KrunkTown, USA” which she wrote herself. She took the crown for Best Hip-Hop Artist of the Year becoming the youngest artist to be nominated, much less to sit on the throne.

Her credits include opening up for Warner Bros. multiple platinum R&B recording artist, Jaheim at the White Linen Extravaganza in New Orleans, the Caravan of Dreams, Venice Beach Teen Club where she opened up for Lil’ Flip, The Aragon Ballroom where she opened up for Swisher House, the Players Club where she caught the musical interest of Rap recording artist Juvenile, etc… Her shows are remarkable for a new comer to the stage. Her lyrics flow non-stop and she doesn’t miss a beat. Her musical attitude reflects that of Da’Brat’s while her approach to the mike comes across like a young female version of Mystikal.

Sandy Red is an A and B Honor roll student at Handley Middle School and her favorite subject is Mathematics. She has been hitting the books hard and has received the Top Academic Award from former President Bill Clinton for her scholastic achievements. In addition to her outstanding rapping ability and brilliant intellect, she is the starting point guard for the 13-0, citywide champion, Lady Stars.

She is determined to one day be the starring player of the Women’s National Basketball Association But for now this fan of the WNBA will have Cynthia Cooper and Lisa Leslie shaking in their boots in anticipation of her arrival. But that’s okay because she has a rap for them too entitled, “I Got Next.”. Sandy has put the funk back in FunkyTown with off the chain songs like “KrunkTown, USA,” “Like it or Not” and she’s currently working on a new song, “It’s a Momma’s Thing.” For more information access http://www.knqpromoters.com/south.htm
